5 simple ways to declutter your space and refresh your mind
A messy home equals a cluttered mind.
We all know the saying: messy space, messy mind.
Nothing makes you feel more like a hot mess than walking into a chaotic home. Life is busy, and sure, the last thing you want to do after a long week is start tidying over the weekend — but trust me, now is the time to get your life together.
I love spring cleaning and decluttering my home. It's relaxing, and I hate holding onto things I don’t need. Spring is my favourite season, and it’s the time to start afresh. If you’d like to do the same, follow these simple steps.
1. Minimise your life and mind
Start small.
Seriously, don’t try to tackle everything at once, or you’ll be overwhelmed. Break it down, room by room, section by section, and declutter thoroughly.
2. Clear out your wardrobe
Think about it: when was the last time you wore certain outfits or pieces of clothing that are sitting in your wardrobe?
Go through every single item, and if it doesn’t fit, make you feel amazing, or hasn’t been worn for months or years, let it go.
Donate unwanted clothes to charity or make some extra cash by selling on Depop, Vinted or eBay.
3. Be realistic about what you need
Let’s be real. You don’t need everything you have, and some of your items are taking up unnecessary space in your home. Declutter cupboards, shelves, and storage areas by sorting everything into keep, donate, or toss piles.
“The best way to choose what to keep and what to throw away is to take each item in one’s hand and ask: ‘Does this spark joy?’ If it does, keep it. If not, dispose of it.”

4. Find a home for everything
Clutter breeds more clutter, so create a designated space for everything and put things where they belong. This tip sounds simple, but it’s a game changer.
5. Clear out what no longer serves you
The first step to crafting the life you want is letting go of what you don’t need. After all, a decluttered space = a decluttered mind. Get rid of the stuff that is no longer useful or adding value to your life, and let it all go.
